Meet Adam
Adam Hill’s story starts with a simple family lesson: service is how we take care of each other. It’s a value passed down in his family and lived out in three different ways — Adam through nonprofit public service, his older sister as a helicopter pilot in the Air Force, and his younger sister as a physician assistant caring for Medicaid patients. Their paths are different, but the calling is the same: choose work that strengthens communities and gives people a fair shot.
Adam carried that spirit of service into his early life, working nearly every job at a local country club — busboy, server, snack shack worker, banquet staff, shoe shiner, and caddy — experiences that taught him how to connect with people and respect the dignity of every kind of work. He was also a cross country and track athlete in high school and college, learning discipline, perseverance, and the value of showing up day after day. He earned a degree in Biochemistry from Binghamton University and a master’s degree in Neuroscience from Yale University before moving to Winston-Salem in 2013. What began as a move due to personal connections quickly became a commitment to a community he felt deeply connected to.
Soon after arriving in Forsyth County, Adam joined Forsyth Futures as a data analyst supporting education efforts through The Forsyth Promise. His role grew into Director of Community Partnerships, where he worked with local initiatives focused on education, health, income, food access, and senior well-being.
For the past six years, Adam has served as a practical, energetic Executive Director, working to empower staff with clear goals, resources, and autonomy while helping the organization strengthen its partnerships with residents, grassroots leaders, and community coalitions. Throughout his career, Adam has worked at the intersection of lived experience, actionable data and collaboration — with a focus on using relevant insights to answer the question “what should we do” and drive action.
Outside of work, Adam still finds balance and joy through running, hiking, and biking — activities that reflect the same values that guide his public service: commitment, resilience, and connection to place. He believes communities thrive when leaders stay close to the people they serve and remain grounded in the everyday rhythms of community life.
